Q. I have the newest iPod Nano 8G and I currently use an AUX jack located on the front of my sony stereo. I just plug the cord into my headphone jack and run it to the AUX jack. While the sound quality isn't bad so to say, some songs sound worse than others and I find myself constantly messing with settings. Anyone have any suggestions to improve my sound quality? It might be more convenient if the AUX was on the back of the head unit, and you could hide the wire, but sound quality wouldn't change. Your only room for improvement in sound quality is to look at what bitrate your MP3's are encoded into. If they're only 128k MP3's, you'd get better sound out of 192K or higher. I always encode my own into 192, and if I'm downloading, some come encoded as high as 320K. Higher bitrates also mean larger filesizes though... 192 isn't all that much bigger, but 320K files can start taking up a lot of space.
